just an idea I'm bashing around

from the inventive and creative mind of jason jones 

put together very professionally

for less than fifteen bucks and a trip to harbor freight

which ohsoconveniently is right down the street

that ladies and gentlemen is cold beer and ammo

and angling tools by design

now it's time to build mine

I may put another coat of spar varnish on it

once I finish a rewrap

whenever that will be

my new rod wrapping stands

nothing fancy

a few glitches

for some reason I cannot explain

I decided I needed another (or new) wrapping stand

not that there's anything wrong w/ the old one

there isn't

the kicker is that beyond a couple simple refinements 

the damn things are nearly identical

old one - made of poplar

foam lined blank notches

includes mending plates (determined unnecessary)

new one - oak base cedar uprights

since they're unnecessary

this would be finished butcept I have no 1 1/2" wood screws

I've got 1" and 2" but as usual not what I need

anyways, we'll sand things down

throw on a couple coats of spar varnish

and we'll be rolling...

well the battenkill was just too versatile a reel to be stored in this display case

it went into a more versatile sack

a couple rod builders were also there

 anyways, stoo-pit me had to buy a $40 book

by rene harrop, a guru of mine of sorts

I hadn't ever even seen it before

then I was talking to the guy who makes these...

well, I'm a bit of a sucker for craftsmanship

so I had to have it

best of all it comes in a laptop case

which makes for a perfect travel setup

truth be told I've been neglecting ye olde rod shoppe that wrock

and I prefer fishing to building rods

and I've been getting in my fair share of fishing 

and yes I'm going after it again early next week

meanwhile there is work that remains to be done

pictured above is too little water in for repairs

yesterday saw me cut a new ferrule station on the butt

hopefully it'll hold up

also planed out the final piece of steve's 7012 which is ready for glue

while we wait for temps in the 80s

I also staggered and sized my latest rod a 6ft 3pc 3wt

I'm excited about this little rod

fast action and packable

a package arrived last week a heavy little box

filled w/ bottle openers (none of which work any better than a bic lighter)

and some tool maker clamps

which are pictured above and below

installed as support rails for the binding machine
