which means the tip wraps are not in place

in refinishing a rod

in this case the south bend 59

I've never seen the likes of this before

that reel seat was not glued to the rod blank

it was poorly pinned w/ a bent brad of some sort

furthermore the butt end of the rod is 1 3/4 inch short

and the reel seat tube filled w/ wood chips

go figure

actually we had another visitor to ye olde rod shoppe yesterday morning

a gentleman and his wife from wisconsin dropped by to show me an old bamboo rod he had

I determined that it could be refinished and result in a serviceable fishing pole

I will prolly cut off the guides and strip away the varnish clean and polish grip ferrules and reelseat

this afternoon

the rod as received...

I picked up an old montague from ebay for about thirty bucks

stripped sanded  cleaned/polished reel seat ferrules rewrapped w/ new guides and varnished it

shortly it was looking brand spanking new

then I gave it away
