the nastiest(?) body of water in the state...

yuck
a mere 97 yards from the blue tees
you can't even see the green

you can however see the detritus and nasty brown mudwater

there were an unfortunate number of poor college gals
playing a tournament on this p.o.s. goat track
some of whom drove all the way from california

what a waste of time

mail order bride

She's got skin like Peking duck
Glazed in honey
She glows like the sun
Seen through amber
She wears bright nickel jewelry
Wrapped in colorful silk

She's thin and nubile and seven feet tall
And my touch can make her
Wiggle and flex and even fall to pieces

She never says no to a streamside ramble,
and her honey-do list is one word long
"Fish"
She casts out lines ending in tiny barbs
And her taste in men, impeccable

J. Edson Leonard's Flies

for inspiration at the vise I'll often turn to old texts
in this case I came across this lovely plate of dries
note the consistency symmetry and linear (or is it spatial) pattern

triggers

I've included three triggers (as per ed engle) into this fly

do you know what they are?

the color blue
oversize thorax
flash (beadhead)

dancing about architecture

grunge's finest hour
grunge goes glam
grunge grooves orchestral
grunge riffs roar

and it is simply beautiful

fifteen years ago my brother gave me this cd
I pretty much regarded it as an instant classic
apparently others agreed as it was all over the radiowaves

then I put it up and forgot about it
likely because their ensuing work fell short of mellon collie
how could it not?

yesterday a random comment on an internet bulletin board led me back to this masterpiece
and it sounds every bit as good now as it did then
there is no filler here
even if you don't particularly care for a song it belongs
and is part of something important
this story being told
even though I can't tell you what the hell it is all about
you'll have to listen for yourself

replacing the "number one irons in golf"

played callaway x-16 irons for about five years
inexplicably I switched to some cobras about six months ago

today the callaways go back in the bag
looking for more consistent ball striking

mo' muddlers

I saw a sparse wet style muddler elsewhere on the tubes
put a spin on it
fanning gold kf wing about the shank

changed things up and tied this
which I think will prove to be a devastating hopper
time to field test

behold!

a rather dilapidated decrepit throne
at an alpine lake

wish you were here?
